The Law Enforcement Division of the Land Transportation Office-Bacolod has posted P3,359,105 in revenues from violations of motorists and jeepney drivers in the past six months.
The figure is 50.25 percent higher compared to the same period of last year with only P2,235,757, its revenue collection report showed yesterday.
LTO Chief Renato Novero said the increase of the collection is attributed to the efforts of former LTO head Norman Saril, who recently retired.
He said it has been two weeks since he assumed office as the new chief but asked all apprehending officers to do their usual monitoring and maintain peace and order in the roads.
Novero also said he is meeting with the new LED head, Elmar Defensor this week to discuss issues on law enforcement.
Meanwhile, a total of 10,880 motorists and drivers were apprehended from January to June this year, which is 71.14 percent higher compared to last year of the same period with only 6,358 apprehensions.
Previous LTO records showed that driving without seat belts is the top violation committed by local jeepney drivers followed by obstruction, operating units without plate numbers, no plate lights, and wearing of slippers by single motorists.
Other common violations of PUJ drivers are smoke-belching, defective stop lights, and non-installation of plate lights while others are fined for not bringing their certificates of registrations and official receipts, LTO records showed. *LTG
