PNP: 4 of 11 persons nabbed
in raid test positive for drugs

Four of 11 persons arrested in the drug raids in Purok Sigay, Brgy. 2, Bacolod City, Thursday tested positive for shabu use, Senior Insp. Niel Exaltado, chief of the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group, said yesterday.

Henry Cebugal, 27, of Purok Sabes in Brgy. Villamonte; Victor Sagon, 23, of Brgy. 14; Rex Baylon, 49, of Brgy. Ma-ao, Bago City; and Joselito Idala, 19, of Brgy. Cansilayan in Murcia town, Negros Occidental, all tested positive based on the drug tests conducted by the crime laboratory of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, Exaltado added.

Juvy Dacumos, “alias Tata”, 30, who owns one of the two houses raided, also tested positive for illegal drug use, he said.

Exaltado said the four suspects will be charged for violation of Sections 15 and 11 of Republic Act 9165 or illegal drug use and possession of drugs and paraphernalia, while Dacumos will face raps for maintaining a drug den and for selling illegal drugs.

Meanwhile, the employee of the Bacolod City government assigned to the Department of Public Services, and six other men also arrested inside the alleged drug dens, tested negative for drugs, Exaltado said.

They are Mark Anthony Jimenez, 38, of Brgy. Handumanan; Albert Mombate, 36, of Luzuriaga Street; Eduardo dela Torre, 24, of Brgy. Villamonte; Emilio Sing, 40, of Brgy. 17; Roberto Carasaquit, 29, of Brgy. 9; John Psalm Sebullen, 23, of Brgy. 10, and DPS employee Avelino Casalda, 33, of Purok Luhod-luhod, Brgy. Mandalagan.

But Exaltado said that while they tested negative for drugs, they will still be charged for visiting a drug den.

Norberto Medel, 66, who owns the other house where eight of the suspects were caught having a pot session, will also be charged for maintaining a drug den.*APN.

6th RPSB vies
for nat’l award

The 6th Regional Public Safety Battalion of the Police Regional Office 6 in Negros Occidental is vying in the search for the best RPSB unit in the country.

Senior Supt. Milko Lirazan, 6th RPSB director, yesterday said his unit is competing for the award along with the Police Regional Offices 1 in northern Luzon and 4-A in central Luzon.

Director Catalino Cuy, SAF director, is leading a team of PNP inspectors who will visit Camp Aniceto Lacson in Victorias City, Negros Occidental, for an inspection on July 17.

Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz and the Bacolod City Police Office are also vying in the best senior police commissioned officer of the year and the best city police office in the Philippines competitions, police records show.

The awarding of outstanding police units and individuals is set August 8 at Camp Crame in Quezon City, with President Benigno Aquino III as guest of honor and speaker.

Meanwhile, Police Officer 1 Ryan Lumogdang, a member of the 6th RPSB temporarily assigned to the BCPO, was awarded the Medalya ng Sugatang Magiting by Chief Supt. Cipriano Querol, regional police director of Western Visayas, at the flag-raising rite at Camp Martin Delgado in Iloilo City yesterday.

Lumogdang was stabbed during a confrontation with armed members of the Dark Demon Society clan at the Capitol Lagoon in Bacolod City on July 1.

Despite his injuries, Lumogdang managed to shoot one of his 12 assailants, police records show.

In a statement, Querol said the action of Lumogdang was a concrete manifestation of courage and dedication to service by the uniformed personnel of Police Regional Office 6.*GPB

3 cars burglarized

Thieves forced open a van at the car park of a fastfood restaurant at 4th Lacson Street, Bacolod City, Saturday.

Manuel Fortun, 42, of Goldcrest Subdivision in Brgy. Bata, Bacolod, told the police that he parked his Starex van to eat at the restaurant but was surprised to discover the windshield on the passenger side already broken when he returned at about 9:50 p.m.

Fortun said his camera bag worth P3,000 that contained a camera battery charger and three memory cards were gone.

Thieves also looted a truck and a carry vehicle parked at Lacson-San Sebastian and Gatuslao streets, Bacolod, Saturday and Sunday, and took the vehicles’ batteries.

Ken Ryan Patajo, 26, of Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, told the police that he parked his vehicle at Lacson-San Sebastian streets in front of the Starplus Pension house where he was temporarily staying, and discovered his two 9-plates batteries, valued at P8,610, gone at about 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

Virgilio Villeta, 43, of Purok Avocado in Brgy. 20, Bacolod City, claimed he parked his red Kia vehicle at Gatuslao Street in front of the 888 mall to go to a nearby establishment and found his car battery gone when he returned at about 8 p.m. Sunday.*APN
