Guisihan transferred,
Canieso named OIC

BY ADRIAN NEMES III

Negros Occidental Police Provincial Director, Senior Supt. Alan Guisihan, was officially relieved of his post yesterday to assume a higher position at the Police Regional Office-6 in Iloilo City.

PRO-6 Deputy Director for Administration Senior Supt. Manuel Felix yesterday said Guisihan will be the officer-in-charge of the Office of the Chief Regional Directorial Staff, which has been vacant for almost a month now.

The post to be assumed by Guisihan was formerly occupied by Senior Supt. Wesley Barayuga, who was promoted to deputy regional director for Operations, replacing Felix, who took over his present position from retired Chief Supt. Ernesto Tesoro in July.

Guisihan was NOPPO director for almost two years, having assumed post in 2010.

Felix stressed that the transfer of Guisihan was a promotion and not because of unresolved cases in Negros Occidental, like the murder of Kabankalan Judge Henry Arles.

Guisihan performed well during his stint as NOPPO director, especially in the campaign against illegal drugs and illegal gambling, he added.

Supt. Remus Zacharias Canieso, deputy provincial police director for Administration, will be the acting NOPPO director while the list of the replacements for Guisihan is being awaited, Felix said.

Once the list is ready, Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. will choose the next NOPPO director, he added.

Chief Supt. Cipriano Querol ordered Canieso to continue the flagship programs of the Philippine National Police.*APN
