holds Expo 2012

The Information and Communications Technology in Dumaguete will hold a trade fair titled “ICT Expo 2012” today and tomorrow at the Negros Oriental Convention Center in the city, a government press release said.

The exposition aims to highlight entrepreneurship opportunities in the ICT industry and to promote industry players in Dumaguete, ICT exhibition chair Javier Fortunato of the Department of Trade and Industry, said.

The event, on the theme “Sustaining Development through ICT Convergence”, will bring together the business process outsourcing industry, ICT representatives including micro, small and medium enterprises in education, tourism, health and environment and agriculture to create business opportunities, the press release said.

The expo will also feature a career caravan for senior high school students, administrators and parent-teacher associations; a job’s fair to be participated in by BPOs; and a programming competition with both open and student categories.

Invited to grace the activity as keynote speaker is Undersecretary Alejandro Melchor III of the Department of Science and Technology, while DTI 7 regional director Aster Caberte will deliver a message, the press release also said.

The National ICT Federation of the Philippines will also hold its second quarter general assembly during the expo, with officials from the 37 ICT Councils from all over the country in attendance, the press release added.*
