VM inspects gas stations
in city, no violations found

The Bacolod City government’s composite team of inspectors, led by Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson, recently conducted its regular check of gasoline stations in Bacolod City to determine strict compliance with an executive order involving the standard gauge on fuel sales, a press release from City Hall said.

There were no violations committed among seven stations checked, in so far as gasoline and diesel fuel sales were concerned, as determined by the task force, it said.

The task force was composed of representatives from the City Treasurers Office, the Permits and Licensing Division, Fire Department, City Legal Office, Department of Trade and Industry, City Planning and Development Office, Vice Mayor’s Office and the Public Information Office.

Buddy Ferrer of RPN 8 and ABS-CBN’s Meneil Lopez joined in the inspections conducted, the press release added.

Pryce Gases Inc., Sea Oil’s Ensign Marketing Corp., Auto Gas Petronas’ RJ Commercial, Total’s MDL Fuel Station, and Jinstar Gasoline Station (also Total’s), all along the Circumferential Road in Brgy. Bata; Petron’s Dragon Dynasty Petroleum Co. at the North Terminal, in Bata, and Caltex PD 888 Distributors Inc. at the Circumferential Road, Brgy. Banago, showed tolerable levels in fuel sales, the press release said.

Sayson, however, noted that RJ Commercial, operated by Ramy Jalandoon, has welding activities within its premises, which he said, spells disaster as the LPG stocks could explode.

Glenn Raymund Granada of the Bureau of Fire also noted that the gas station’s fire extinguisher has no warranty and had to be changed, while he ordered Jinstar Gasoline to stop using a jumper in its fuse box and likewise declared that its fire extinguisher had no warranty.

Noli Villaflor of the Permits and Licensing Office declared that Ensign Marketing Corp. had no LPG permit, while RJ Commercial’s 2011 and 2012 mayor’s permit were not renewed, MDL’s mayor’s permit was not complied with, and Jinstar needed acceptance from the Office of the Building Officer.

Sayson also saw a sudden increase in the number of gas stations operating along the Circumferential Road even as he reiterated that the EO on the calibration of pumps was very specific, especially on the standard gauge, the press release added.*
