Charges for illegal possession of ammunition were filed before the Bacolod City Prosecutors Office yesterday against a Certified Public Accountant, following the confiscation of several bullets from his house by members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Wednesday.
The charges were filed against Emmanuel Benares Aguilar, “alias Epi”, 50, at Homesite Subdivision, Brgy. Montevista, CIDG-Bacolod head, Chief Insp. Fernando Salvatierra, said yesterday.
Salvatierra said Aguilar is still confined at the Pablo O. Torre Memorial Hospital where he is undergoing hemodialysis as he is suffering from chronic kidney disease.
Armed with a search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Edgar Garvilles, the CIDG swooped down on the house of Aguilar at about 6:30 a.m. Wednesday on complaints from a concerned citizen that he fires his gun when he gets angry, Salvatierra said.
CIDG operatives recovered more than 100 bullets and empty shells of various high and low-powered firearms from Aguilar's house, police records showed.
Aside from illegally-possessing ammunitions, Aguilar is also wanted by the International Police for four counts of money laundering in the U.S. State of Nevada, Salvatierra said.
Salvatierra said that if Aguilar is able to post bail, he might be transferred into the custody of Interpol Manila on orders of their U.S. counterpart.
Aguilar had earlier stressed that the ammunition seized at his house were not his and the money laundering charges were trumped up to demean his reputation.
Aguilar ran for councilor of Bacolod City in the 2010 election but lost.*APN
