Guv: Negros solons to meet
on UNA lineup after SONA
BY CARLA GOMEZ

Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. yesterday said the six congressmen of Negros Occidental are set to meet shortly after President Benigno Aquino's State of the Nation Address on July 23 to discuss the United Negros Alliance line up for 2013.

The meeting that could be held on July 25 or 26 will be with Ambassador Eduardo Cojuangco, UNA founder, he said.

The governor said the recommendation is that the status quo be maintained wherein all UNA members seeking reelection will be allowed to do so under the party rule on respecting the equity of the incumbent.

Meanwhile, the governor reiterated his preference for the retention of Supt. Remus Zacharias Canieso , who has been named caretaker of the Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office, as NOPPO director in a permanent capacity.

Canieso, who is expected to be promoted to senior superintendent by September, will be qualified for the job, the governor said.

He said he has been promised that Canieso will be allowed to remain at the post.*CPG
