Tricycle driver drowns
BY ADRIAN NEMES III

What was supposed to be a happy get-together turned tragic when a tricycle driver drowned in Brgy. Punta Taytay, Bacolod, City at about 4 p.m. yesterday.

Station 9 commander, Chief Insp. Placido Gentoleo, identified the fatality as Rolando Gallaso, 73, of Phase 6-A, Brgy. Handumanan, Bacolod.

Investigation conducted by Senior Police officer 1 Ariel Sevilla showed that Gallaso’s tricycle was rented by his neighbors, whose names were not disclosed, to go to the Rojas beach resort in Brgy. Punta Taytay.

Gallaso decided to swim after having drinks with his neighbors, but failed to return after 30 minutes, Sevilla said. Gallaso’s neighbors searched for him and later found his body floating near the shore, he added.

Gallaso’s neighbors sought the help of the Brgy. Sum-ag rescue unit and brought him to the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center, but he was declared dead on arrival, Sevilla also said.*APN
