Palaro bid today

Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. and Mayors Evelio Leonardia of Bacolod City, Jose Montelibano of Silay, Eric Saratan of Talisay, Manuel Torres of Bago, and Andrew Montelibano of Murcia will give their pledge of commitment today for bid of the province to host next year’s Palarong Pambansa.

The local officials will attend the conference called by the Department of Education regional office, headed by Western Visayas director Mildred Garay, to finalize the presentation that the province will submit to the 2013 Palaro hosting committee.

The government and the mayors will manifest their pledge of commitment to allow the DepEd to use the existing facilities in their area as venues and billeting center for the participants,Capitol sources said.

NOPSSCEA sports group
gather today at WNU

Athletic directors of NOPSSCEA-member schools will meet 3 p.m. today at the West Negros University GGA Audio Visual Room to finalize their plans for this year’s competition.

NOPSSCEA sports committee chairman Anthony Carlo Agustin said they will discuss, among others, the list of events each school will participate, date of submission of documents, calendar of sports activities and the obligation of every member-school.

The 32nd Negros Occidental Private School Sports Cultural Educational Association Season is set to open on September 7, but Agustin said they plan to hold the collegiate basketball competition earlier in time for the champion team to prepare for the 2012 Philippine Collegiate Championship League regionals.

Bacoleños to see action in
tchoukball As-Pac tilt

The Pilipinas Ilahas U18 Tchoukball Team, mainly composed of tchoukball athletes from Bacolod City, will leave for Melaka, Malaysia this week to represent the country in the Asia Pacific Youth Tchoukball Championships set July 20-22.

Headed by Philippine Tchoukball Federation regional director Jose Montalbo, the delegation is composed of Team Philippines head coach Raymund Jamelo, Pilipinas Ilahas U18 coach John Elray Jamelo, team captain Jeffrey Tan Jr., Joseph Joy Matulac, Keano Marion Rosales, James Vergel Jamelo, Judel Roy Lacson, Jess Patrick Sioson, Kentrick Buncio, Franklin Al Lobaton, Roelle Chapa, Shem Kelly Palcat, and team coordinator Elvie Jamelo.

Also seeing action in the Asia Pacific tournament is the tchoukball team from Davao that will compete in the boy’s 13-15 years old category.
