‘SSS should increase pension
before talking of premium hike’

Partylist Rep. Teddy Casiño yesterday hit the Social Security System for planning to increase the premium by 10.4 percent to 11 percent by the end of the year, a press release from his office said.

Casiño, and fellow Bayan Muna Rep. He said the SSS should first increase the pension of retirees before even talking of increasing the contributions and there should be no talk of increase unless their bill is passed first.

He said that the lowest paid government worker receives about P9,000 gross pay and is still subject to deductions and other mandatory contributions like Government Service Insurance System and PhilHealth fees, where the worker is left with a minimal amount that is insufficient to meet the demands of his/her family.
