Condura takes lead
in BUS G cagefest

League leader Condura used its reserves in the final half to turn back Melfern-San Dionisio, 87-68, and claim the top spot in the elimination round of 2012 Sharp-Basketball Unified Sports Group Invitational Tournament, Sunday at WNU Gym.

Digol Benedicto scored 23 points, while Rene Antones added 10 markers as Condura finished the eliminations with a clean 5-0 slate to enjoy a twice-to-beat advantage in the semifinals that will start this Sunday.

Rene Verde and Jose Cadagat combined for 36 points by failed to lift Melfern-San Dionisio past Condura.

Securing the No. 2 spot in the team standings was Syntax, after it nipped Panasonic, 94-91, while Homesite Basketball Organization clobbered BACIWA, 101-82, for its third win and to grab third place.

Arnel Tornilla led Syntax with 25 points, Dagol Flores hit 21, Raymundo Sapa drilled in 16, Rex Bayer sank 15 and Allan Antones had 14 points for a balanced attack.

Panasonic, which trailed 43-44 at halftime, got 33 points from Hermi Derwill and 24 points from center Rey de Guzman. Koko Fuentebella scattered 14 markers and Macky Macayan sniped 11 points.

HBO did not miss Amit Teruel as James delos Reyes sizzled with 30 points, 18 from the three-point area, Francis Occida powered his way with 23 pointsand Jomario Mahilum added 10.

Lanky Bantong, Rustom Depalubos and Adrian Melocoton combined for 26 points to share the scoring load.*NAB
