Negros Press Club president Armando Toga yesterday said the NPC is a separate media organization from the Bacolod Press Club.
Toga made the statement after five members of the NPC were named as directors of BPC in its solicitation letter to celebrate its 32nd anniversary.
The NPC members were Vic Mercado, Clarence Locsin, Arnold Diaz, and Roly Baliguat, he said.
Toga said the members have vehemently denied their positions with BPC.
NPC got a copy of the solicitation letter that was signed by Ernest Faunlague, president and chairman of the board of BPC, from a school in Bacolod City, he also said.
“NPC is a separate organization and is distinct from BPC. It is the oldest press club in the Philippines, established in 1936,” Toga said.
He said the legitimate organization of media people in Negros Occidental and Bacolod City is NPC, adding that people must not confuse their organization with the BPC.*LTG
