Learning something
new every time

I have always been fascinated with learning something new every chance I get. It makes life definitely more exciting. The “Been there, done that” attitude in life is not for me, it spoils our zest for living.

Recently, we hied off to Capitana Gallery in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, for “Layers of Reflection”, an art exhibit by Benjie Torrado, who has been part of the Manila art scene for a fairly long time. On hand to greet us was our dear friend Adjie Lizares, who informed us that the famous “Balay ni Tana Dicang” has turned 140 years old this year. (Imagine that!). Adjie invited us to partake of the cool drinks and the cocktail delights specially prepared by the staff of Balay ni Tana Dicang. It was absolutely delish! Everyone kept coming back for seconds (or thirds and fourths!).

I must say Benjie's art works are so unique. It was my first time to see how he magically-engraved plexiglass into conversation pieces. His first passion was printmaking and the artistic process is clearly evident in his latest works of images etched into the acrylic surfaces, framed and reflected in the multi-media pieces.

This you have to see to appreciate. He is also the current workshop director of the Printmakers Association of the Philippines. “Reflections” is his first exhibit in Neg. Occ. We've always appreciated how Adjie Lizares brings to Negros several exhibits by many other artists who continue to dazzle us with their works, their many ideas and points of view and their experiences.

Another interesting happening we had was the launching of “Churros con Chocolate” at C's by L‘Fisher Hotel.

This delicious delicacy was developed centuries ago by Spanish shepherds high in the mountains. Made out of twisted dough, the Churros con Chocolate is crunchy on the outside but soft and warm on the inside. This is made fresh everyday and dipped into the dark, rich, pudding-like chocolate. Ummm, absolutely divine!*
