The P21.8 million sewer jet that the Bacolod City government purchased from the US arrived Friday and will be subject to final inspection, Joemarie Vargas, acting head of the Bacolod City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, said yesterday.
The equipment will be used by the city to unclog the drainage systems for its flood control program.
Vargas said the supplier and a technician from the US will be at the Bacolod City Government Center today for the technical inspection.
He said the technical inspection will be witnessed by representatives from the DRRMO, the City Engineer’s Office and the Bids and Awards Committee. The BAC will verify the technical description of the unit based on their request, and a dry run will follow, he said.
Vargas said that once everything is in order, they plan to first declog the three major markets in Bacolod City – the Central Market, Burgos Market and Libertad Market.
Meanwhile, the city government is also planning to acquire its own dredging machine for its flood control program, as well as mobile evacuation facilities.
Vargas said the mobile evacuation facilities will be placed in flood prone areas in the city.*CGS back
