3 guards probed for
loss of NFA rice

BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

Three security guards are being investigated for the loss of 66 sacks of NFA rice stocked at the Lamberto Macias Sports and Cultural Center in Dumaguete City.

Provincial Administrator Arnel Francisco said Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo has ordered a thorough investigation on the suspected theft.

Initial investigation showed that three blue guards are assigned to the sports complex on an eight-hour shift, and one of them holds the key to the stock room.

Francisco said they are waiting for the reply of the security agency on the guards, who he said, were recommended to be kept out of the complex while investigation is ongoing, but did not name the guards or their agency.

He said there were indications that withdrawal slips were tampered so the number of sacks of rice requested by the Office of the Governor in the duplicate did not match the original.

He added that the outcome of the investigation will determine whether or not the contract with the security agency will be terminated.*JG
