Firm urging Cadiz officials
to support coal power plant

The Phil-Power Exploration and Development Corp. is requesting the officials of Cadiz City to endorse its plan to construct and operate a 12MW diesel and 50MV thermal coal power plant complex at the Cadiz City Port in Barangay Banquerohan.

Cadiz Mayor Patrick Escalante said the firm needs the endorsement of the Banquerohan barangay council before he and the Sangguniang Panlungsod can endorse it.

A public hearing in Banquerohan initially set Friday has been postponed to next week, Escalante said.

2,500 call center
scholarships open

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority in Negros Occidental has announced the availability of 2,500 scholarship slots to train call center agents, a government press release said.

TESDA Provincial Director Lorena Yunque said the finishing course for call center agents National Certificate II is a 100-hour course which includes training in communication skills and customer service.

The scholarship training is funded by the industry-based training for work scholarship program.
