2,500 call center
scholarships open

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority in Negros Occidental has announced the availability of 2,500 scholarship slots to train call center agents, a government press release said.

TESDA Provincial Director Lorena Yunque said the finishing course for call center agents National Certificate II is a 100-hour course which includes training in communication skills and customer service.

The scholarship training is funded by the industry-based training for work scholarship program.

This is co-managed with the Business Processing Association of the Philippines, Call Center Association of the Philippines, and the Bacolod-Negros Occidental Federation for Information Technology in response to the need for more call center agents in the province, the press release said.

Bacolod City has been ranked among the top three next wave cities by BPAP, and is host to major Call Center companies, it added.

Applicants for the scholarship should be at least 18 years old, high school graduate and can speak English.

Interested parties may apply directly to TESDA registered schools in Bacolod City including Star of Asia, Inc. at DOLL Bldg., 6th Lacson St. with telephone number 433-9963 and CAPSI 2nd Floor BC Bldg, Araneta Street with contact number 704-2002.

The Philippine Call Center Institute at Door 214 St. Jude Bldg, Corner Gatuslao-San Sebastian Streets, with contact number 704-2507 and Lasaltech-Bacolod at 3rd Floor, Lopues East Center Annex Building with telephone number 433-3520 are also TESDA-accredited schools.

Also TESDA-accredited are VMA Global College located at Orola Bldg, Rizal Street with telephone number 476-5256 and the Negros Occidental Language and Information Technology Center at Paglaum Sports Complex, Hernaez Street with telephone number 435-6092, the press release said.

In La Carlota City, applicants may also apply at Lasaltech-La Carlota at Lopue’s Annex Building, Corner Mabini-JM Basa Streets with telephone number 460-2576, it added.*
