How to look
and feel young

IVY

It’s the latest craze in Manila for people who want to look and feel young.

Stem cell therapy has been the talk of the town among various groups of people, from celebrities to top government officials, socialites, glitterati and those who want to counter the effects of aging.

In a TV interview on ANC, Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile admitted he had undergone stem cell therapy. Former President Joseph Estrada was reported to have also undergone this treatment, hence he looks so much better than he used to. His skin looks so smooth and wrinkle-free.

Here in Bacolod, our good friend, Dr. Rudy Patiño invited us to the launching of their new project, Regenerative Medical, located at Medical Plaza, Bacolod. This is where famous plastic surgeon, Dr. Florencio Lucero, performs Autologous fat stem cell transplantation.

Lucero explained why this method is better. He said they use your own stem cells from the fatty tissues of your body, thus there is minimum risk of rejection or side effects. Lucero introduced a former patient, Marietta Destacamento, who impressed the audience with her lovely face and figure. She walked through the crowd with such grace and aplomb that we were surprised to hear from Lucero that, before her treatment, she was a very sick lady who was in constant pain and could hardly walk.

When we learned that she was 56 years old, we found it amazing as she really looked 20 years younger!

The brochure says it improves the immune system, helps inhibit cancer cells, helps the management of debilitating diseases that go with aging and it is an effective anti-aging as it increases energy, mental alertness and (omigosh!) libido!

It was a most interesting lunch where we learned something new. Oh my, the amazing medical breakthroughs never fail to excite.*
