An 80-year-old widow was shot dead Tuesday by a still unidentified gunman in Brgy. Tabugon, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.
Investigations by the Kabankalan police showed that the victim, identified as Eufrosina Millezar, succumbed to a gunshot wound in her back. She was declared dead on arrival at the Southern Negros Doctor’s Hospital, Supt. Calixto Mabugat, Kabankalan police chief said, in his report to the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office.
Police investigators, who responded to the shooting incident, recovered five live ammunition of a .45 caliber pistol, a slug and an empty shell, at the crime scene.
Mabugat said they are still trying to establish the motive for the incident.
In Sitio Napungulan 1, Brgy. Jonob-Jonob, Escalante City, two suspects in the killing of a farmer were also arrested Sunday by the police.
The arrested suspects identified as Jomil Tanguyan Namion and his cousin, Mario Tanguyan Diaz, are now in jail. Diaz, however, was brought to the Vicente Gustilo District Hospital in Escalante for treatment of his injury.
The victim, who was identified as Oscar Senora, 39, was allegedly hacked and stabbed by Namion, during a drinking spree, triggered by heated arguments, police investigations also showed.
Senora was reported to have stabbed Diaz first in the stomach. Namion, who witnessed the incident, managed to wrestle the knife way from Senora, that he had also used in stabbing him.
Murder charges are now being readied by the Escalante police against the two detained suspects.*GPB back
