Toyota, Boston join
Sun Cellular in semis

Kempee Lagrason saved the day for tournament leader Toyota-Bacolod after completing a three-point play with 13 seconds left in the ballgame to escape No. 8 squad Ink Crème, 83-82, while Boston Finance survived Fortuna in overtime, 102-100, in the do-or-die quarterfinal matches Tuesday night to enter the semifinals of the 1st PROBAC/LNA7 Basketball Invitational Tournament played at the West Negros University gym.

Ink Crème stunned No. 1 team Toyota in the first half after taking control of the ballgame, 48-40.

Boboy Lura and Teodoro Lara had combined 12 points for Ink Crème while Lagrason had 10 points for Toyota.

In the second quarter, Luigi Herrera hit four triples for 14 points to lead Ink Crème’s 27-point output as Ron-Ron Adaratso added 10 points, while Allan Jaena had 8 points for Toyota.

Both clubs went head-to-head in the third with Toyota hitting 17 points against Ink Crème’s 16. Ink Crème ended on top at the end of third, 64-57. Tivo Hisona led Toyota with 9 points while Efren Miravales headed Ink Crème with 6 points.

Jojo Patias found his range in the fourth quarter as he scored 10 points and Lagrason added 7 to anchor Toyota’s 26 points while limiting Ink Crème to only 18 markers.

Lagrason topscored Toyota with 17 points as Patias added with 14, Hisona with 11, hotshot Rico Cabatu was limited to 10 points, Jaena with 8 and Tony Agustin with 6 points.

Herrera spearheaded Ink Cream also with 17 points while Adaratso and Lara backstopped with 10 points each as Michael Chan and Miravales with 8 points apiece, and Lura and Legaria with 6 points each.

In the other game, Jerald Abrot scored 33 points, 20 in the final period, to lift Boston to victory following an 89-all standoff after the regulation.

Both teams were also tied at the half, 42-all.

But Fortuna went on a 27-12 blast in the third period behind Ian Teruel’s 10 points and Newyn Oñas’ 8 markers. Boston played a huge comeback game in the fourth with a 35-24 run to even the game at 89-all at the end of the quarter and eventually carried the momentum in the overtime to secure a semifinal ticket against Sun Cellular.

Backstopping Abrot are RB Chua with 21 points, Yan Dy with 19, John Villaroman with 10, Brad Hojilla with 7, and Matt Delis with 6 points.

Teruel and Aldrich Apuang paced Fortuna with 17 points each while Oñas added 15, JR Gaposan delivered 14, Ryan Gamboa with 10, Carlo Chu with 8 and Joery Dilag with 7 points.
