Class ’69 captures crown
in SJHS-LS bowling tilt

Class ’69 and Batch ’80/81-Combined won in their divisions in the championship round of the St. Joseph High School – La Salle Inter-class Alumni Fellowship Bowling Tournament at the Lopue’s East Bowling Center in Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City, recently.

Bracket A champion Carlo Boyero and Minnie Chua of Batch ’88-01 topped the master bowler contest in the men and women’s division.

Class 69, led by Melot Alimon, won over Batch ’84 headed by Art Palo for the class A division title, 552-547.

The champion included Alimon, Boy Geronca, Edgar Alagaban, Boyero, Johnny Garcia, Janet Alimon, Neonita Canieso, Ailyn Dayo and Utay Pabon.

Palo’s group earned the right to challenge the top seed after winning over No.3 seed Batch ’83 in the quarterfinals, 509-504, and beat Class ’71, 537-496.

The team also beat Batch ’85 in the semis, 549-516, for a showdown with the champion squad.

Bracket B champion Batch ‘80/81-Combined, led by Romulo Ramos, won the title by posting 566 pinfalls against 521 from Batch ’88-2001 in the deciding match.

The team won over the defending champion in their first game , 512-508, but Ramos’ team bounced back in their second match to win the championship.

In the champion team were Romulo ‘D’Gunner’ Ramos, Suzette Morales, Cheryl Ramos, Luche Magtunao, Pedrito Morales, Francis Palermo, Proceso Lomocso, and Gary Echauz.

Third seed Class ’88 won the top spot after beating Class ‘78, 580-513, and followed this with a 580-521 decision against Class ’68.

Batch ’80-81 was the winner by beating the Class A title holder Batch ’69, 511-506 in the bracket championship.

Meanwhile, Boyero won the master bowler title beating Jun Lozada in the men’s group, while Chua won over Stella Ongsingco in the distaff side.

The highest team single award went to Batch ’68 with 586, and highest triple to Batch ’69 with 1,644.

The tournament’s individual record holders in the men’s corner were Carl Aguda in the single, 160, Romulo Ramos in triple, 397, Carlo Boyero in pinning, 97; Suzette Morales in the women’s single, 148; Mitzi Chua in pinning, 94, and Minnie Chua in triple with 367.
