Raps filed vs. Ilog mayor,
6 others for Arles murder

A complaint against Ilog Mayor John Paul Alvarez, a government employee, and five members of the Revolutionary Proletarian Army for the murder of Kabankalan Regional Trial Court Judge Henry Arles was filed by the National Bureau of Investigation before the Department of Justice in Manila, 4:30 p.m. yesterday.

Arles was shot dead in Barangay Manalad, Ilog, at about 6:30 p.m. on April 24 while he was driving home.

Recommended for prosecution along with Alvarez are Emmanuel “Eman” Medez – an administrative aide 1 of the Ilog government, and RPA-ABB members Marvin Salve and Gerald Gallano Tabujara who are at-large, and Jessie Gedacan Daguia, Alejandro Castillo Capunong and Eddie Magno Fotunado who are now under NBI custody in Manila.moremoremore

The uncovering of the plot to kill Kabankalan Judge Henry Arles was boosted by the extra-judicial confessions of the three Revolutionary Proletarian Army-Alex Bongcayao members who admitted having taken part in his assassination.

The three are Jessie Gedacan Daguia, 40, and Eddie Magno Fotunado, 23, both of Barangay Tampalon, Kabankalan City, and Alejandro Castillo Capunong, 28, of Barangay Tabu, Ilog who are now under NBI custody in Manila.

Their co-accused are Ilog Mayor John Paul Kho Alvarez, Emmanuel “Eman” Medez – an administrative aide 1 of the Ilog government and a resident of Kabankalan City, and RPA-ABB members Marvin Salve and Gerald Gallano Tabujara of Sitio Calumpang, Poblacion, Cauayan, who are at-large.moremoremore

Waitress dies, cop injured
in city hit-and-run incident

A waitress was killed while her companion, a policeman assigned at the Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office, was injured in what had appeared as a hit-and-run incident involving a motorcycle and a pick-up vehicle at the junction of Lacson and San Sebastian streets, Bacolod City, after midnight yesterday.

Elyn Requiron, 27, of Brgy. Magsaysay in Escalante City, Negros Occidental, succumbed to injuries she sustained at about 4 a.m. while being treated at the Corazon Lcosin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, Traffic Management Unit chief investigator, Senior Police Officer 1 Dennis Perma, said.

Police Officer 1 Ronald Rojo, who was driving the motorcycle with Requiron as passenger sustained minor injuries, but was taken into the custody of police station 1 by traffic investigator Police Officer 3 Orlando Caporal as he was found to have an expired license, Perma said.moremoremore
