Sexagenarian found dead

The decomposing body of a 65-year-old woman, was found in a sugarcane field in Brgy. Magballo, Kabankalan City, while a 34-year-old man was shot dead in Brgy. Tabugon, in the same city in Negros Occidental, on Thursday.

The cadaver was identified by the police as that of Adelaida Ignacio.

Investigations by the Kabankalan police showed that Ignacio’s body was discovered by Rudy Capenanes, and was identified by the Magballo barangay officials.

Kabankalan police probers are still investigating the cause of her death.

A day earlier, a certain Noli Pat, alias Negro, was shot and killed, allegedly by a security guard assigned at the Dacongcogon Sugar Central in Brgy. Tabugon, Kabankalan City, police records also show.

Pat, 34, sustained a gunshot wound in the head, and was declared dead on arrival at the Kabankalan City Hospital.

Nelson Pat, brother of the victim, who reported the incident to the Kabankalan police, identified Romel Bastian, a member of the RJC Security Agency detailed at the sugar central, as the person who shot Noli.

Investigations by the Kabankalan police showed that Bastian and his fellow guard, Jaime Gallaza, who were on duty, saw Pat and three of his companions, carrying an empty LPG tank owned by the sugar central.

Bastian immediately fled after the shooting incident, and policemen who responded to the shooting incident, recovered an Armscor 12 gauge shotgun with serial number 1069720 and two empty cartridges at the crime scene.* GPB
