Chan captures 2 awards in PBA

Another son of Bacolod City is making his home city proud in the Philippine Basketball Association.

Former University of St. La Salle junior Stinger Jeffrei Chan bagged the Most Improved Player award and made it into the Mythical Second Team in the 37th PBA Season.

Chan, who helped Western Visayas’ high school boys basketball team won the gold in the 2000 Palarong Pambansa held in Bacolod City, made a name for himself in the PBA as he transforms himself from a go-to guy and an all around player.

Semifinals showdown tonight
in PROBAC/LNA7 basketball

After a month of hard court actions, 10 teams are down too four as the semifinal matches of the 1st PROBAC/LNA7 Basketball Invitational Tournament begins tonight at the West Ngros University gym.

Tournament leader Toyota-Bacolod will try to duplicate over Watchmen Daily Journal in the first game followed by the match-up between Boston Finance and Sun Cellular.

Toyota, which earlier escaped Ink Crème in the quarterfinals, will have their hands full against the run and gun type of game from the Watchmen.

JK beats Orix in Fil-Sino

Kirell Brahndon Montalbo sizzled with a tournament high 51 points to lead Johann Kendrick over Orix Metro, 88-71, while Atlantic Auto Parts defeated MRT Gentech Corp., 90-77, to tie their victim at second spot, Wednesday night of the Fil-Sino All Asian Countertrade Inc. 2nd Conference Intercolor Basketball Tournament at Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym.

Two days later, Joshbianc Motors remained as the only unbeaten team holding off Campuestohan Highland Resort, 108-105, and Guanzon Dental Clinic notched its first win surprising Fyr Fyter Mktg., 123-116.

In the JK vs. Orix game, Montalbo, who scored a total of 100 points in their last two games, also scored 23 points in the opening quarter to lead JK to a 28-15 lead. Robbie Jalando-on delivered 13 points to lead an Orix comeback and tie the score, 40-all at halftime.
