Two die as rains pour
BY ADRIAN NEMES III

Two persons, one a 2-year-old boy, were killed and two others were in serious condition from drowning and electrocution incidents in barangays Pahanocoy and Alijis, Bacolod City, during heavy rain on Saturday.

Records from Police Station 7 and the Bacolod City Risk Reduction Management Council identified the fatalities as Gary Dulaca, 40, of Apo Housing, Brgy. Alijis, and Raffy Morales, 2, of Purok Santa Antonia, Brgy. Pahanocoy

Station 7 commander, Chief Insp. Levy Pangue said that investigation conducted by Police Officer 3 Lyndon Ortoño, Dulaca got electrocuted at about 11 p.m. Saturday while hanging a wet shirt on a laundry line attached to a tree where there was a live wire.

Dulaca’s wife Grace, 42 and his son, Geo, 10, came to his rescue but were also electrocuted. They were rushed to the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center but Dulaca was declared dead on arrival, Pangue said.

As of yesterday, his wife and son remained in serious condition at the BAMC’s Intensive Care Unit, Pangue said.

Meanwhile, the body of 2-year-old Raffy Morales of Brgy. Santa Antonia, Brgy. Pahanocoy was fished out of a river at about 9 a.m. yesterday in Brgy. Tangub, Bacolod.

CRRMC head Joemarie Vargas said Morales’ parents Jomari and Analie reported him missing at about 3 p.m. Saturday after he allegedly fell into a canal beside their house.

Vargas theorized that the boy fell into the canal and the water current carried him to the river.

Rescuers conducted a search and retrieval operation until 6 p.m. Saturday and resumed yesterday until they found his body floating in a river near the chapel of Florenceville Subdivision yesterday.*APN
