floods subside

Flooding brought on by heavy rains that hit Hinoba-an town and Bago City Friday and Saturday had subsided as of yesterday, the Provincial Disaster Management team said yesterday.

Rains hitting Negros Occidental are being caused by the southwest monsoon, the PDMT said.

The flooding in Hinobaan had affected 254 families with 1,129 members and destroyed 19 houses and damaged 121 others, the PDMT said.

Affected barangays were Pook, Bulwangan, Bacuyangan, Culipapa, Alim, Asia and 2.

Flooding also affected 120 families with 480 members in Barangay Binubuhan, Bago City, who evacuated to the barangay covered court, the PDMT said.

Food assistance was provided to the affected families, it added.*
