Negros Farmers
to join Palace rally

Farmers belonging to the Task Force Mapalad will  lead a  march in Bacolod City today to push for  the completion of the extended Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program.

The TFM said about 5,200 farmers and farm workers from 321 haciendas will join them.

It  said it will also bring 300 to 400 farmers from Negros to a culmination march and rally at the Malacañang Palace on June 8.

For Negros Occidental, the TFM said it  demands  that the  Department of Agrarian Reform hands out respective notices of coverage for 104 haciendas.

The group is  asking for the installation of agrarian reform beneficiaries in  six haciendas in Negros Occidental.

Farmers from the north and south of the province, who will converge at the Lupit Church in Bacolod and at the Talisay Catholic Church, will attend a mass at the Bacolod Cathedral and  will  camp out at the DAR provincial office in Bacolod before  going  to the BREDCO port to join the Malacañang protest, the group also said.*PP
