DSSD holds GIP orientation

The Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD) in cooperation with the Public Employment Services Office (DSSD) conducted an Expanded Government internship Program Orientation (GIP) headed by Sally J. Abelarde, DSSD OIC, Friday, June 1, 2012, at the MassKara Hall of the Bacolod Government Center.

The beneficiaries were both "in" and "out" of school youth, ages 18 to 30 years old.  Roughly 250 participants were present.  The said DSSD and PESO program gives them future employment opportunities and aims to help in the eradication of the marginalized sector of society to hopefully eliminate poverty.

They were assigned to the assist the different barangays in Disaster Reduction Management; in the monitoring of the implementation of projects for victims of natural disasters like earthquakes and typhoons. They were also assigned to help in the encoding of a master list of Social Pension Beneficiaries (such as processing of the requirements to qualify for claims), and to assist in the implementation of the feeding programs in the neighborhood, among others.
