The Department of Agrarian Reform, south provincial office in Negros Occidental installed 26 agrarian reform beneficiaries in seven landholdings in Brgy. Camindangan, Sipalay City, recently.
Gloria Cañonero, DAR senior agrarian reform program technologist, said yesterday, the land holdings have a total land area of 63 hectares from various owners while some were foreclosed by the Development Bank of the Philippines and turned over to DAR for redistribution to the ARBs.
DAR also explained to the ARBs their rights and obligations after they received the Certificates of Land Ownership Awards, she said.
Cañonero also pointed out that the common violation of ARB’s after they receive their CLOAs is that they sell their rights or sub-lease it.
She said DAR is distributing land to the farmers for them to acquire ownership and manage their lands, not to lease it or sell it.
Cañonero also reminded farmers to report to DAR if they have problems with their lands so they can provide support services and other assistance to help them improve their production.
Municipal agrarian reform officers of Sipalay DAR Elma Popioco and Thomas Rovero led the installation and official turnover with DAR legal officer Lilibeth Esporas, Cañonero also said.
The installation was also assisted by members of the Bravo Company of the 47th Infantry Battalion led by 1st Lt. Glennford Libre, 1st Lt. Rommel Callejo, and Lt. John Raymond Inguillo, she added. *LTG
