PEMO, Bantay Bata to hold
fun walk, run, bike activity

Walkers, runners and bikers will converge for the environment on June 17 at 5 a.m. at the Bacolod City Public Plaza to celebrate the 20th Provincial Environment Week, a press release from organizers said.

The Negros Occidental government, through the Provincial Environment Management Office and the Bantay Bata Foundation of ABS-CBN, organizes the 1st Provincial Fun Walk, Run and Bike as a kick off activity of the various lined up activities for the Environment Week celebration on June 17 to 22.

The Fun Walk will take off from the Bacolod City Public Plaza in front of the Police Station 1 and will pass by the old city hall at Luzuriaga Street and turn left at Lacson Street.

The Fun Run will start from the Bata-Pepsi Road junction in front of a gas station, all the way to Lacson Street, the press release said.

Bikers will assemble at the New Government Center as a take off point and will pedal up to Barangay Alangilan where their turn-around is designated before going down passing through Barangay Villamonte and then to Lacson Street.

Routes for all three events end at the Provincial Capitol Steps.

A P20 registration fee will be collected from the participants by the Bantay Bata Foundation and registration for the walk, run and bike.

Prizes for the three events are: Biggest contingent, Early Bird, Best in Costume, Youngest walker/runner/biker and Oldest walker/runner/biker.

Water will be provided for the participants, however, they are advised to bring their own canister or containers to avoid non-biodegradable wastes in the spirit of the environment week celebration, the press release said.

PEMO and Bantay Bata Foundation are urging the public to support the 1st Provincial Fun Walk, Run and Bike as a way of celebrating for the environment.

Registration forms are available at the Bantay Bata Foundation Office located at the compound of ABS-CBN and the PEMO office at Aguinaldo Street, Bacolod City.

Deadline of registration is on June 16, 2012.*
