Church leaders cautious Some Catholic Church leaders in Negros Island are worried about repercussions in the plan to arm members of the Revolutionary Proletarian Army-Alex Boncayao Brigade once a closure is reached in the peace talks between the breakaway rebel group and the Philippine government. Fr. Burton Villarmente, coordinator of the Social Action Center Diocese of Dumaguete, raised the issue during the meeting of the Church-Military Advisory Group held in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, recently. He said the ongoing peace talks between the Philippine government and the RPA-ABB includes letting some members of the breakaway group carry firearms within pre-designated communities to protect themselves from harassment and possible attacks. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
