Balikbayans in town

BUDDAI

Two more days to go and the most awaited fight of the year, Pacquiao vs. Bradley, will happen. We see Bradley brag or blow his own horn about how clever and good he is, but just wait and see.

Many balikbayans are still in town, enjoying their stay in the City of Smiles.

Balikbayan nurse Chona Leyes of Hahnemann Hospital, New Jersey, and her daughter, Angel, who is also a nurse, are in Bacolod to visit their family, relatives and friends. So are Rose and Lindsay Joseph of London, who attended the 25th years of priesthood of brother, Father Caloy.

A despedida party was given in honor of Maegan, the eldest granddaughter of Sony Sabino, and the daughter of Rico and Melanie Sabino, who is going back to school at Ateneo de Manila. Meanwhile, the balikbayans of Batch 1974 were awarded as best in booth and best in group costumes during the alumni homecoming of the Domingo Lacson National High School recently.

Balikbayans also attended the opening of the 100+10 Memorabilia of the Negros Occidental High School.

Happy birthday to Elma Banzon who recently celebrated her 75th birthday with friends and family in Bacolod City.

Personal note: I forgot to return the memory slide of my camera and the pictures of the two parties I attended recently were all kaput.*

Remember: Through the cracks of brokenness in our lives, God allows us to see that only with Him is our security and abiding strength real!

DSWD warns vs. text scam

The Department of Social Welfare and Development has warned the public, particularly the beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, against text scams currently circulating.

The text, coming from a certain Lea Ramos that states “Congratulations, President Noy-Noy Aquino Foundation 4Ps Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, your sim # won P950,000 as second prize winner in the Handog Pangkabuhayan raffle promo, DTI 0154s’12,” is not true, the DSWD press release said.

The DSWD does not hold any raffle promos or draws, it added.

The DSWD urges all those who will receive this text message to immediately report to the nearest DSWD office or text to the Pantawid Pamilya Grievance Text Hotline 0918-9122813, it said.

They may also get in touch with information officer Aileen Lariba at 0917-3815555 or (032) 2321192 loc. 123, it added.*
