Bacolod Rep. Anthony Rolando Golez Jr., got support from Rep. Joseph Gilbert Violago (Nueva Ecija, 2nd District), who moved to co-author House Bill No. 6069 recently, a press release from the Office of Golez said.
House Bill No. 6069, which will make 26 current government hospitals around the country into government owned and controlled corporations, is seen to make these hospitals more efficient in management that will eventually lead to having more funds for poor patients, the release said.
House Bill No. 6069 filed with Golez and Rep. Alfredo Marañon (Neg. Occ., 2nd District) as principal authors; was already approved at the committee level and is supported by Health Secretary Enrique Ona, the press release also said.
Meanwhile, Golez was a resource person in the “Forum with the Legislative Chiefs of Staff” sponsored by the House of Representatives and the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. at the Ramon V. Mitra Building in the House of Representatives Wednesday.
The forum provided the Chiefs of Staff of Legislators more information about the implementation of the program of PhilHealth.
Golez is the primary author of the bill amending the PhilHealth law that will make the dream of universal health insurance coverage for all Filipinos a reality. The bill has already passed on third reading in the House of Representatives, its press release said.
“I am glad in PhilHealth's efforts in the field of health insurance coverage. Our Constitution guarantees the right to health and very soon all Filipinos will no longer be troubled with their medical and health needs, and very soon all Filipinos will have health insurance coverage,” Golez said in the press release.*
