Bacolod burglary victim
reports more items stolen

More items were discovered gone from the house in Brgy. Villamonte, Bacolod City, that was ransacked by three suspected robbers, one of whom was fatally shot by the owner, at about 2:30 a.m. Friday.

Ma. Lourdes Ocampo, wife of house owner Elly Sander Ocampo, in her letters to Station 4 chief, Senior Insp. Dianne Grace Aquitania, and the DAILY STAR on Saturday, claimed that their 9-year-old daughter complained that her wallet, containing P300 in cash and school documents, was gone from her room.

Several pairs of denim pants, tennis shoes and jewelry, all valued at P30,000, were also gone, Ocampo added.

She also said that, contrary to earlier reports, her husband did not shoot robbery suspect Emmanuel Cordova, 32, of Santa Catalina Street, Eroreco Subdivision in Brgy. Mandalagan, Bacolod, when he was already on board a motorcycle.

Ocampo said that “When I shouted for help upon having been surprised of the unexpected presence of the robber, Emmanuel Cordova, inside our house, my husband immediately went out of our room holding his duly-licensed firearm but he was met by Cordova and tried to wrestle and dispose him of his firearm”.

She said that it was while they were grappling for possession of the gun, it fired several times, hitting Cordova and the gate of the house. “Cordova, who was injured, fled outside of the gate and fell on the cemented road, after his two unidentified companions…fled after hearing the explosion of the gun”, Ocampo said.

She said that the cellular phone of her husband was recovered by the police from the pocket of Cordova.

Police records show that also seized from Cordova’s possession were a paper bag that contained a clutch bag with compact discs and amplifier, another clutch bag with two pulse generator and a portable DVD player with charger and assorted keys.

Cordova died while being treated for a gunshot wound in his nape at the Bacolod Doctor’s Hospital.*APN

3 hurt in stabbing

Three men were injured in stabbing incidents at B.S. Aquino Drive and in Brgy. Singcang-Airport, Bacolod City, yesterday and Saturday.

Police identified those injured as Roger Francelzo, 32, of Margarita Street, and Genesis Vecera, 18, of Purok Isla, Villamonte; and Anthony Paredes, 26, of Purok Pag-asa, in Brgy. Estefania, all in Bacolod City.

Police Officer 2 Raymond Bandojo, case investigator of Police Station 4, said Francelzo was ganged up on and stabbed by Vecera, his elder brother, Bobby, 21, and their minor companion, over a misunderstanding, at about 1:10 a.m. yesterday at B.S. Aquino Drive.

Bandojo said the Veceras and their companion were waiting for a jeep when one of them noticed Francelzo staring at them. The three confronted Francelzo and that led to a fistfight.

While grappling with Francelzo, the older Vecera also accidentally stabbed his brother, Bandojo added.

The two who were wounded were rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, where they are now confined.

A 7.5-inch bladed weapon, believed to be used in the stabbing, was recovered at the crime scene, while Bobby Vecera and the minor companion were endorsed to Police Station 4, police records show.

Paredes, meanwhile, was stabbed by his drinking buddy while he was sleeping at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday in Brgy. Singcang-Airport.

Witnesses Cherry Mae Segundine, 32, and Jonah Parisan, 32, cousins of the suspect, identified as Daniel Payumo, 34, of Calong-Calong Airport, told the police that they were surprised to see him stabbing Paredes, who was asleep after their drinking spree, Police Officer 2 Art Zureta, case investigator, told the DAILY STAR.

Zureta said they are yet to determine the reason why Payumo stabbed Paredes, as the witnesses claimed that there was no commotion or misunderstanding before the incident happened.*APN
