RDC committee approves
airport expansion request
BUT NO BUDGET FOR
ACCESS ROAD STREETLIGHTS

The Infrastructure Development Committee of the Regional Development Council approved the 500-meter runway extension of the Bacolod-Silay Airport and the expansion of the airport terminal building during its 2nd quarter meeting in Iloilo City recently, Frank Carbon president of the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said yesterday.

Carbon, who represents the private sector of Negros Occidental, said Bacolod City and Negros Occidental are attracting more tourists and entrepreneurs, and the airport is a gateway for the province and the city to bring in more investments.

He said the 2,000-meter runway needs expansion to accommodate bigger aircraft, international flights, and bring in more tourists.

Workers oppose Coke
evaluation scheme

The Alliance of Coca Cola Union of the Philippines-International Union of Foods is strongly opposing the individual performance evaluation scheme for wage increase of the Coca Cola Bottlers, Philippines as this will lead to the loss of the security of tenure of workers, Cyrus Javelosa of the Bacolod Sales Force Union, said yesterday.

Javelosa claimed that the scheme is unjustifiable and unfair for them because the management will have the decision to increase or decrease their wages based on their performance.

He said their sales are not determined by their performance alone since they have the market that determines the volume of their product sales.
