REGISTRATION OF VOTERS SET TO RESUME

Provincial Election Supervisor Jessie Suarez yesterday said the registration of voters in the fifth district of Negros Occidental, that was temporarily suspended during the special election for congressman of the area, will resume on June 18 and end on October 31.

The registration of voters in other parts of Negros Occidental and the country has been ongoing and will also end on October 31, he added.

The filing of certificates of candidacy for the May 13, 2013 elections is set on October 1 to 5, 2012, he said.

Trillanes city’s
Independence Day speaker

Acting Bacolod Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson will lead city officials during the flag-raising and wreath-laying ceremonies at the Bacolod Public Plaza at 6:30 a.m. today as Bacolod City celebrates the 114th Philippine Independence Day.

The city officials will be joined by Senator Antonio Trillanes IV who is the guest of honor and speaker during the Independence Day program that will follow at the Bacolod Arts, Youth and Sports (BAYS) Center.

Trillanes formally entered public service in 1991 as a cadet in the Philippine Military Academy where he graduated cum laude in 1995, while earning a degree in BS Naval System. He took up graduate studies at the University of the Philippines when he got his masters degree in Public Administration major in Public Policy and Program Management. moremoremore

Guv to lead rites at Capitol

Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr. will lead the provincial officials and representatives of multi-sectoral groups during the observance of the 114th Philippine Independence Day Celebration on the theme” Kalayaan: Pananagutan ng Bayan Para sa Tuwid na Daan” at the Capitol Lagoon and Park, 7:30 a.m. today.

The flag-raising ceremony will be a major feature of the tableau presentation on the Evolution of the Philippine Flag to be showcased by the University of St. La Salle Maskara Theatre Ensemble with Tanya Lopez as the artistic director and Fundi Tipon as scriptwriter-narrator, Benja Lucasan, Public Affairs Division head, said yesterday.

The highlight of the program is the independence message to be delivered by Marañon for the Negrenses, she said.moremoremore
