NORSU searches
for next president

BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

The search is on for the next president of the Negros Oriental State University in Dumaguete City.

A search committee for the presidency, headed by Silliman University president Ben Malayang III, has been constituted with members from the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges, the alumni, Commission on Higher Education, and from the private sector.

Outgoing NORSU president Henry Sojor said the SCP will choose three names that will be submitted to the Board of Regents for voting.

Meanwhile, education officials are mulling over the proposal that a chosen president from among the heads of state universities and colleges in a region, can become the president of the so-called Regional State University.

Sojor said the plan has to go through Congress.*JG
