Despite his shocking and controversial loss to American boxer Timothy Bradley, the Philippine Army is still open in giving welcome honors to eight-world division champion Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao once he returns home from the United States.
"It's up to the Army Reserve Command (ARESCOM, Pacquiao's mother unit as a reservist) to recommend on that. But regardless of that, we are still open to honor him in whatever possible way," PA spokesperson Major Harold Cabunoc said.
Pacquiao was awarded a lieutenant colonel's commission at the ARESCOM for his boxing feats late last year.
Cabunoc said that despite this controversial defeat, PA chief Lt. Gen. Emmanuel Bautista is still extending his congratulations to Pacquiao.
"PA chief Bautista is extending his warmest congratulations to Pacquiao for a well-fought fight. It's very obvious that the 'Pacman" totally controlled the fight as he pounded Bradley mercilessly throughout the bout," he added.*PNA
