Guv to lead rites at Capitol

Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr. will lead the provincial officials and representatives of multi-sectoral groups during the observance of the 114th Philippine Independence Day Celebration on the theme” Kalayaan: Pananagutan ng Bayan Para sa Tuwid na Daan” at the Capitol Lagoon and Park, 7:30 a.m. today.

The flag-raising ceremony will be a major feature of the tableau presentation on the Evolution of the Philippine Flag to be showcased by the University of St. La Salle Maskara Theatre Ensemble with Tanya Lopez as the artistic director and Fundi Tipon as scriptwriter-narrator, Benja Lucasan, Public Affairs Division head, said yesterday.

The highlight of the program is the independence message to be delivered by Marañon for the Negrenses, she said.

The 303rd Philippine Army will hoist the Philippine Flag, accompanied by the Negros Occidental Brass Band and the Provincial Capitol Employees Choir will sing two songs --“Ang Bayan Ko and “Buglas” during the program.

The program that will be hosted by Alyssa Marie Villarico, the reigning Lin-ay sang Negros, will also feature a pass-in-review by the Negros Occidental High School Citizens Army Training Ceremonial Troop.

It will be capped by the drawing of winners of the raffle tickets sponsored by Progressive Alliance of Capitol Employees led by its chairman, Alfredo Dinoy, Lucasan said.*
