Raps filed vs. 2 suspects
for slay of two in Manapla

BY GILBERT BAYORAN

Robbery with homicide charges were filed by the police against two suspects arrested for the killing of two civilians, and for taking P125,000 in payroll money in Manapla, before the Negros Occidental Provincial Prosecutor’s Office.

Senior Inspector Edencio Gregorio, Manapla police chief, however, said yesterday that they released Friday another suspect, who was invited for questioning, after witnesses failed to identify him to be among the suspects in the killing of Eddie Basa and Julie Biating, and for taking the P125,000 payroll money from hacienda payroll clerk Ma. Teresa Basa.

Charged for murder with robbery were Lloyd Besonia,24, and Jim Boy Trabajar,19, who are now detained at the Manapla Police Station Jail. They vehemently denied involvement in the crime, that took place last week in Hacienda Bariw, Brgy. Santa Teresa, Manapla.

Families and neighbors of the two arrested suspects also disputed allegations that they were involved in the commission of the crime, and insisted that the two were at their place in Brgy. Tortosa, Manapla, when the crime was committed.

Ma. Teresa Basa, wife of Eddie, however, positively identified Trabajar as the one who took her bag, that contained the P125,000 payroll money, she also said that Besonia had participated in the killing of her husband, investigations of the Manapla police show.

Gregorio said they believe that the companion of Besonia and Trabajar who is at-large could be the one who shot Besa and Biating, and has the stolen payroll money.*GPB
