1 million trees to be planted
today in Negros Occidental

One million trees will be planted simultaneously today in three towns and one city of Negros Occidental as part of the 20th Provincial Environment Week celebration, a press release from Capitol said.

The activity, will be conducted in Barangays 3 and San Juan in Pontevedra, Tibson in San Enrique, in Manapla, and Talisay City, it is in line with the province-wide tree growing project of Negros Occidental.

The Provincial Environment Week, under Sangguniang Panlalawigan Ordinance 152, is an annual event in the province held in coordination with government and non-government agencies to continue to enhance the consciousness and awareness of every Negrense of the importance of a healthy environment, the press release said.

The celebration kicked off with a “Fun Run, Walk and Bike for the Environment” Sunday and was participated in by students, government employees, the NGOs, private sector, and environment enthusiasts.

Also held were province-wide simultaneous environment fora on climate change adaptation and carbon footprint calculation; composting; the new generation of watershed management and biodiversity conservation: water, birds in Negros and the Irrawaddy dolphins at the Provincial Capitol yesterday, the press release added.

Joemel Jimenea and
Marcia Tongson wedding

Joemel Jimenea and Marcia Tongson were married at the Our Lady of Candles Church in Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City, on June 9, 2012.

Joemel is the son of Rene and Melinda Jimenea, and Marcia is the daughter of Jose Roy and Caridad Tongson.

Their principal sponsors were Gov. The best man was Aries Rosales and the maid of honor was Rodalyn Timbad.

The groomsmen were Alvin Bustamante, Daven Jay Jimenea, Marniel Subiaga and Ramon Jimenea, and the bridesmaids were Jo-ann Marie Saad, Christina Libradilla, Francis Renelyn Dilig and Pauline Ann Jimenea.

The secondary sponsors were Michael Jimenea and Laarni Vesagas for candles, Jordan Tiangson and Mervlyn Tiangson – veil, Warren Aguilar and Raya Ivy Tongson – cord.

The ring bearer was Ice Jade Tongson, Justin Jimenea – coin bearer, Rhyan Miguel Dilig – Bible bearer; while Mia Joline Tiongson, Chriszha Mae Tongson, Judia Faith Tongson and Rozette Laruza were the flower girls.
