NTU - Tigers jins rule
taekwondo tilt

Up against the promising young taekwondo athletes in the region, the Negros Taekwondo Union – Tigers, mentored by Jim Jim Chua captured 15 gold medals and a silver in the Mayor Hernan D. Biron Sr. Taekwondo Championship, held June 16 in Barotac Nuevo Municipal Covered Gym.

It was literally a sweep for the NTU–Tigers as its top caliber jins prevailed over their opponents in the final round to win the gold.

Displaying their top form honed by years of focused training under the tutelage of Chua, the Tigers emerged as champion with Stephanie Lamayo, Camille Miraflores, Adrian Amihan, Hannah Flores, and Anton Guinanao leading the cast of gold medalists.

Also bringing home the gold were Jad Vasquez, Sam Arrieta, Shaira Garbanzos, Rodel Oreta, Davonn Pecha, Gail Flores, Julienne Bermejo, Clouie Bolinas, Novie De los Santos, and Christian Barillas. EJ Mayuga won the silver.

Getting their share of the golden haul are Talisay City-based NTU Tigers Via Trocio, Lanvers Pedroso, and Lucky Sitjar.

It was the second time for Chua and his team to win the overall championship in Barotac Nuevo as they turned back their rivals from Dumangas, Iloilo, Capiz, Janiuay, Lambunao, Sta. Barbara and host Barotac Nuevo.*NAB
