420 Cadiznons aided
in medical mission

The Sugar Industry Foundation Inc., in partnership with VICMICO Planters Association, conducted its 114th medical mission and feeding program at Tagbanon Elementary School in Brgy. Caduhaan, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, recently, a press release from the group said.

About 420 beneficiaries availed of free medical consultations and medicines, while more than 200 children and some adults benefited from the feeding program.

The activity is part of the group’s thrust to provide medical and dental services and health education to sugar workers and their families. Prevalent sickness found were fever, cough and cold, LBM, malnutrition, back pain, hypertension and dizziness, the press release also said.

The mission team was headed by Jorge Sobrepeña of SIFI, assisted by Daisy de Dios of the Philippine Kabulig Foundation, the Canduhaan Council headed by Brgy. Captain Eduardo Javier, Wilfredo Pelinio, principal of the Tagbanon Elementary School, and barangay health worker Celia Martinez, and doctors Milagros Amarra, Cheryl Tampus, Judith Chua, Ester Leong and Danilo Dueñas, the press release added.*

BLT school feeding
workshop conducted

The Busog, Lusog, Talino Negros School feeding program workshop was conducted at the University of St. La Salle in Bacolod recently, its press release said.

About 70 BLT schools from the cities of Bacolod, Bago, Cadiz, Kabankalan, Sagay, San Carlos, Silay, and Victorias, and the towns of Binalbagan, Candoni, Don Salvador Benedicto, E.B. Magalona, Hinoba-an, Ilog, Isabela, Murcia, and Pontevedra were represented by their school feeding coordinators, principals, school nurses, nutrition coordinators, public schools district supervisors, SK Federation presidents and Barangay Council members in the activity.

Katherine Maguad of the Institute for Negros Development and program manager of BLT Negros, conducted the orientation and workshop, the press release also said.

The 136-day school feeding program, that is on its fourth year and has reached out to 84 schools in 20 local government units, aims to help severely-wasted grades 1 and 2 pupils, with USLS serving as area implementing partner in Negros Occidental, the press release added.*

PMHA marks 36th
anniversary today

The Philippine Mental Health Association Negros Occidental–Bacolod Chapter kicks off its 36th anniversary celebration with a thanksgiving mass at 9 a.m. today, to be officiated by Fr. Deogracias Aurelio Camon, at the PMHA Administration Building in Cottage Road, Brgy. 9, Bacolod City, a press release from the organization said.

A program and socials for PMHA benefactors, members, and friends will follow, with former Rep. John Orola as guest of honor and speaker.

The PMHA is the only non-government, non-stock, and non-profit organization in Negros Occidental promoting sound mental health in the community through education–information programs, psychiatric evaluation, psychological assessment, and counseling, the press release added.*

Fellowship, growth
seminar June 30

The Sto. Niño Catholic Charismatic Prayer Group is inviting Catholic Charismatic Renewal members of the communities and prayer groups of the Diocese of Bacolod to a fellowship and growth seminar on June 30, its press release said.

The activity will be held at the Sto. Niño Parish and Shrine in front of the Bacolod City Health Center, at A.B. Parreno Street. Talks will be given on “Holiness” by Bro. Rafael Pabillo Jr. and “One Body with Many Parts”, by Fr. Raymon Asoy, starting at 2 p.m., to be followed by a concelebrated mass by Asoy and Fr. Julian Bermejo, the press release added.*
