rule 3-on-3 Challenge

West Negros University junior Mustangs and young dribblers from the Stallions ballclub booked two titles each in the 1st LNA7 3-on-3 Basketball Challenge 2012 held at the WNU Gym, Saturday.

The junior Mustangs outscored their rivals in the 15-Under and 17-Under divisions while the Stallions topped the 10-Under and 12-Under age-group categories.

In the 15-Under, WNU-Dark defeated its sister team WNU-A in the finals, 17-13. En route the finals, WNU-Dark won over the Stallions, 18-11, while eventual runner-up WNU-A beat Living Heritage-B in the semifinals, 12-9.

WNU-B dumped LH-B in the 17-Under championship match, 21-14, to give the host team its second crown in the tournament. WNU-B earlier outplayed visiting LH-A in the semis, 13-8.

In the 10-Under category, Stallions-B won over St. John’s Institute in the finals, 8-5, while Stallions’ older team beat squeaked past SJI-A in the 12-Under, 13-11, for its second title.

The Stallions earned its finals berth in the 10-Under after a 7-3 triumph over Mansilingan Basketball Club, while outplaying Trinity Christian School-A in the 12-under semis, 12-5.

Tony Agustin of the LNA7 Sports Foundation said that they are looking forward for more teams participating next year.

Earlier, tournament director Elvis Atinado said that this tournament aims to revive the 3-on-3 basketball in the province.*
