There’s no place like home

LA VIDA NEGRENSE

It was a French-inspired baptismal ceremony for Sophie Maria Alessandra at the historic San Sebastian Cathedral. Sophie is the daughter of international business couple Peter and Jeanette Zmijewski. Although the couple lives abroad, they chose to come home to Bacolod to celebrate this special occasion with their loved ones here in the City of Smiles.

The imposing San Sebastian Cathedral was filled with excited godparents and guests, who all arrived to be part of this meaningful occasion, some of whom jetted in from as far as Dubai, Singapore and the United States. The ceremony was officiated by Rev. Fr. Ernesto Javier, one of the child’s great grandfathers who came all the way from Cebu. Reception followed at the well-decorated Edgardo Hall of Nature’s Village Resort in Talisay City.

Upon arrival at the reception venue, music could be heard along the hallways as violinists set up the mood for this French-inspired party. The place was awesomely decorated, another signature of Jeanette’s superb taste and class. The venue made guests feel they were in Paris, from a towering replica of the world-famous Eiffel Tower up to the table centerpieces, that had a touch of France and even had miniature lighted Eiffel Towers. Giveaways were also one-of-a kind, as these precious collector’s items were hand-carried from Singapore, coming from Paris and Australia. They were signature bags, fashion jewelry and crystals.

After 30 years of marital bliss, John Francis and Ana Marie Pertgen renewed their marriage vows in a grand ceremony held at the Bacolod Pavillon Hotel. The couple also chose to come home to Bacolod City to celebrate the occasion with the people who have touched their lives. Guests were entertained by the couple’s talented children, who performed surprise numbers for their parents. A dance number was presented by Jenna; John Henry, who is awesome in his guitar, rendered a song number, while Mark composed a very touching love message for his parents. After the program, a live band set the mood for dancing, and guests took to the dance floor and partied the night away!*
