The 16th Mudpack Festival that featured tribal dances, drumbeating, and visual arts drew 5,108 guests during the weekend, even without the Miss Earth Mambukal pageant, Mambukal Resort manager, Ellen Vasquez, said yesterday.
She said the festival highlighted the importance of visual arts like mixed media and installation arts.
Ma. Aleta Nuñez, Provincial Environment Management Officer, said Saturday that the festival promotes and highlights the importance of water to peoples’ lives and to the Mambukal Resort, that is covered by a presidential proclamation declaring it as the location for health and wellness.
COMPETITIONS
Winners in the Tribal Dance Competition were Tribu Poseidon (1st), Pontevedra Dance Company (2nd), and Tribu Kalunangan (3rd) while the Tribu Norte won first in the Drumbeating Competition. The Tribu Kinaadman and Tribu ni Pani ranked second and third, respectively.
The winners of the Kids Poster Making Competition were Mary Paul Therese Agpalo (1st), Nicole Faye young (2nd), and Therese Eva Marie Dequito (3rd) while Redmond Nazareno bested the 30 other artists in the Mixed Media Art Competition. In second place was Joan Garzon and third place was Kenneth Po.
Winners in Solo Dance Improvisation were Manuel Malago (1st), Joseph Sidano (2nd), and Joey Rufino, Jr. (3rd) while winners of the Installation Arts were Alvin Quetro (1st), Edwin Yanson (2nd), and Jenny Milleza (3rd).
The Clay Body Painting Winners were Helgen Boy Miaga (1st), Ismael Jalorina, Jr. (2nd), and Ian Bulaclac (3rd) Jorge Ferrarez.
A total of P107,900 were given to winners as cash prizes. *LTG back
