cut rates anew

MANILA – At least two oil firms announced yesterday a price-rollback on their petroleum products.

Major oil player Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corp. and independent player Eastern Petroleum Philippines cut their respective prices of premium gasoline (including unleaded) by P1.80 per liter, regular gasoline by P1.40 per liter and diesel and kerosene by P1 per liter effective 12:01 a.m. today.

The latest rollback would be the local oil firms' eleventh in as many weeks.

on sprinkler law provisions

A scheduled meeting with an Undersecretary of the Department of Interior and Local Government was cancelled but members of the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry still hope to discuss with DILG the retroactive implementation of Republic Act 9514 that requires the installation of sprinkler systems in all business establishments.

MBCCI president Frank Carbon yesterday said they have been informed that DILG Usec. Austere Panadero cannot meet with the Bacolod entrepreneurs on Tuesday last week, because of an emergency that took place in Mindanao and he was with Secretary Jesse Robredo.

Market monitors seize
‘faulty’ weighing scales

Seven weighing scales found to be defective and wrongly calibrated were confiscated during a surprise inspection conducted at the Libertad Market in Bacolod City yesterday.

The inspection was conducted by the Market Coordinating and Monitoring Task Force, City Mayor’s Office-Price Monitoring Unit, City Treasurer’s Office –License Weight and Measure Section, Department of Trade and Industry, Libertad Market supervisor and personnel, with the assistance of Police Station 6.

Executive Assistant Ernie Pineda said that out of the 260 weighing scales they inspected yesterday, 253 were sealed, calibrated and tested, while seven were confiscated after these were found to have been set to reflect the weight of products with a 250- gram difference.
