Mobile meat stalls
backed for DSB

The Negros First Mobile Meat Shop was launched in Brgy. Poblacion, Don Salvador Benedicto, recently to establish branches in all of the town’s  barangays to sell, buy, distribute, and process meat and meat products.

The Provincial Veterinary Office created the mobile meat shop to strengthen local  quality meat and meat products and to encourage consumers to patronize locally processed goods, Dr. Renante Decena, provincial veterinarian, said yesterday.

Decena said this will minimize the sale  of imported meat and meat products thatdominate the local market in Negros Occidental.

Belen Alvarez, project coordinator of PVO, said the meat shop is managed and supervised by the Asosasyon sang Magbababoy sang Don Salvador Benedicto and Barangay Agricultural Aide-Paravet Association.

She said the shops  will operate only  during their scheduled market day sothe turnout of expenses will be limited.

The PVO also demonstrated the proper butchering of meat to their local butchers so that they can put premium prices on their meat, she added.

Don Salvador Benedicto, through its municipal agriculture office passed a resolution establishing mobile meat shops in all of its barangays, Alvarez said.

The resolution said their  profits  will serve as general funds for the association to sustain the project. It  was signed by Vice Mayor Cynthia De la Cruz, who is also the president of the DSB Hog Raisers Association, Inc., and Rogetlio Montano BAA-PAS president, she said.*LTG
