Ombudsman suspends
two city police officers


Superintendents Santiago Rapiz and Leonardo Borromeo were ordered suspended by the office of the Deputy Ombudsman for the Military and Other Law Enforcement Offices effective June 16.

This was disclosed by City Police Director Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz, who also said they received the suspension orders for Rapiz and Borromeo from Camp Crame Monday.

Rapiz, head of the Special Operations Group and the Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group, was meted three months suspension for simple neglect of duty while Borromeo, Intelligence Branch chief, is suspended for six months, for conduct unbecoming of a police officer, De la Paz said.moremoremore

PNP clears Guisihan
of mining link


The Police Regional Office 6 yesterday debunked allegations that Senior Supt. Allan Guisihan is a protector of illegal mining activity at Calagna-an Island in Carles, Iloilo.

Chief Supt. Cipriano Querol, regional police director of Western Visayas, said “Validation reports did not confirm the involvement of Guisihan, provincial police director of Negros Occidental, or any policemen in the illegal mining activity”.

A security guard and a civilian were killed in a shooting incident on June 24 at the Calagna-an, and the two suspects, identified as Jojie Belmonte of Negros Occidental and Cocoy Jopson of Davao City,were recommended by Guisihan to work in a mining establishment in the place.moremoremore

Negros Occidental Vice Governor Genaro Alvarez Jr. yesterday stressed that there is no rift in the United Negros Alliance, and that he and Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. remain friends.

Alvarez issued the clarification amid talk that he may run for Marañon’s post in 2013.
