Man hacked to death by
neighbors: police

A man died on the spot after his neighbors ganged up on him at about 6:45 a.m. Monday in Moises Padilla town, Negros Occidental.

Police identified the victim as Ereneo Tulabing, alias “Erning”, 58, of Brgy. Guipana-an, Moises Padilla.

Investigation showed that Tulabing was on his way home when the suspects, identified as Roberto Mamilla, “alias Apid”, a certain “Ngel-Ngel Mamilla” and an alias “Amy Mamilla”, blocked his way and hacked him without provocation.

The manhunt operation against the suspects is ongoing, and the motive for the hacking still being determined as of press time yesterday, the police said.

Meanwhile, a reveler was injured when he was stabbed while attending a fiesta in Purok Mabinuligon, Brgy. 12, Bacolod City, at about 2 a.m. Sunday.

Victim Roberto Alolor, 21, of Purok Bayanihan-Uno in Brgy. Banago, Bacolod, was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, where he is now confined, police records show.

Witness Francisco Tanoy, 19, also of Brgy. Banago, claimed that Jay-Ar Anoche, 22, of Purok Dughan, Brgy. 10, Bacolod, stabbed Alolor without provocation.

Anoche was brought to Police Station 1 for questioning.*APN

Result of autopsy on body of
septuagenarian awaited

Senior Insp. Niel Exaltado, outgoing chief of the Bacolod City Police Station 5, said yesterday that the result of the autopsy on the body of Solemny dela Cruz, 76, of Purok 16 in Brgy. Alangilan, will be released either today or tomorrow.

The decomposing body of Dela Cruz was found on the floor beside her bed at her residence at about 10:10 a.m. Saturday, when passersby smelled foul odor emanating from her house.

Exaltado said that, although initial investigation showed no hematomas on Dela Cruz’s body, the autopsy was necessary to ascertain the cause of death.

Members of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office Scene of the Crime Operatives, led by Chief Insp. Paul Jerome Fuentispina, noted no forcible entry and no items were reported gone from the house.*APN

Couple loses P50,000 in
hotel room robbery

ILOILO CITY -- A couple from East Baluarte, Molo, Iloilo City lost around P50,000 in cash and a still undetermined worth of jewelry in a hotel room robbery in the city Monday.

Police said the cash and jewelry were taken from the room occupied by Elcer and Shella Somoba at the Days Hotel at Gen. Luna Street, Iloilo City.

Police investigation showed that a certain alias "Lanie," who befriended the niece of the Somoba couple, was tagged as the prime suspect as she was seen inside the hotel room with the niece before the robbery was discovered.

Meanwhile, a grocery store in Barangay Lagubang, Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo also lost a big amount to armed robbers during the weekend.

The Barotac Nuevo police said store owner Teresita Villanueva, 45, was about to close shop when two motorcycle-riding suspects suddenly stopped in front of her.

One of them poked a gun at her and took the P100,000 in cash representing the store's sales for the day.

The suspects fled on their motorcycle with their loot.*PNA
